What's Love, Anyway?

Yeah, Tina Turner sang "What's Love Got To Do With It" and I agree. I'm a veteran of relationships, successful or not. The real big "ah-ha" I learned is that if there is a man out there dedicated to being the best husband he can be, the marriage is likely to be a long one. Women are optimistic and expect the best from relationships, which is sadly naive on their part. We Cinderellas are waiting for Prince Charming. It is the rare man who is altruistic. That is the secret to finding lasting relationships...the devoted man.

Of course there are men who claim the opposite, and I am generalizing.

I have a former boyfriend right now who would be happy as a clam if I would give him my savings accounts, devotion, cleaning and cooking abilities and then he would relish that as a Sultan would to his servants or like King of the Household. Where have all the unselfish men gone?

I want someone to love and grow old(er) with. But I think that dream is slipping through my fingers.
