I'm afraid the holiday season is antiquated. Leave it to human beings to screw up a good thing. For years, I have been sickened by the holiday season's consumerism, the greed, the shootings, tramplings, me-me-me.
I would like you all to join me in banning gift-giving for the holidays! Yes, Santa, I mean no gifts for Christmas. Instead, let's have family or friend gatherings, sing songs, have some food, just enjoy the holiday without having gifts.
All the stores, with their holiday sales, can go )@#_ themselves! No more shoppers, exhausted from trips to find gifts. No more sibling rivalry...."your presents were better than my presents, so Mommy and Daddy must love you more". No more greedy children, demanding the latest in electronics. Maybe we can make it up through giving more on birthdays, I don't know.
